YD Counselling Contract

Qualifications and Professional Standards

I hold a Bachelor’s Degree (Honours) in Psychology and a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP) and adhere to their ethical framework. For further details, please visit: www.bacp.co.uk/ethical-framework.

Therapeutic Approach

I offer counselling in both English and Urdu, providing a safe, non-judgmental, and inclusive space for you to explore your concerns openly and honestly. As an integrative counsellor, I tailor my approach to suit each client’s unique needs. Therapy goals will be discussed at the outset and reviewed periodically to ensure alignment with your progress.

Confidentiality

All information shared during sessions is treated as confidential. However, confidentiality may be breached if I believe you are at serious risk of harm to yourself or others. In such cases, I may be legally obligated to act and will endeavour to discuss this with you beforehand, though I reserve the right to take immediate action if necessary.

Additionally, I am legally required to report disclosures involving:

●        Drug trafficking

●        Terrorism

●        Money laundering

●        Child protection concerns

Outside of the counselling setting, I will not acknowledge you unless you initiate contact. We will not discuss any aspect of our sessions outside the therapeutic environment.

Record Keeping and Supervision

Brief session notes will be recorded and stored securely. These may be discussed anonymously during supervision to ensure the highest quality of care. My supervisor is accredited by BABCP and APT and is bound by the same confidentiality standards. I comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018 (DPA 18), under the oversight of the UK Information Commissioner’s Office.
